A parent’s job is never done—especially when it comes to educating our children. That’s why, consciously or not, we’re always peppering our kiddie conversation with fun facts, bigger words and questions that promote critical thinking. It makes learning fun and a part of everyday life, even for those little ones who aren’t crazy about a traditional school environment.
One way to broaden those educational horizons—and provide some extra weekend stimulation that doesn’t involve screen time? With mazes. They’re fun, easy brain teasers that can improve your child’s problem-solving abilities and fine-motor skills. And best of all: Your kids will have a blast doing them and won’t feel like you’re “making them” do work on their downtime.
Bonus: I particularly love doing mazes at this time of the year, because you can follow them up with a family field trip to a corn maze. (You know I’m all about the synergy and the fall fun!) By doing both, kids can experience two fun variations on the same theme—and two very visual ways to solve this sort of problem.
Here’s something to get you started: an exclusive-to-Momsanity maze for kindergarteners from Education.com, one of my favorite smartypants websites for kids.
